Top sports, government, and business leaders to deliberate with investors at symposium on sidelines of Afreximbank’s AfriCaribbean Trade & Investment Forum in Nassau, The Bahamas

WASHINGTON, DC, June 4, 2024 — With the emergence of sports and the creative industries as powerful engines of growth across Africa and the Caribbean,  the AfriCaribbean Diaspora Alliance will host a high-level symposium on the sidelines of the AfriCaribbean Trade & Investment Forum in Nassau, The Bahamas, to explore the dynamic intersection of sports, culture and business in driving growth, job creation, and economic prosperity in the two regions.

Organized as an official side event of ACTIF2024, the symposium, Accelerating Trade, Investment, and Job Growth in Africa and the Caribbean Through Sports and Entertainment Business Ecosystems, will take place from 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. on June 14.  ACTIF2024 is hosted by the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) and the Government of the Bahamas. 

Thousands of African, Caribbean, and global leaders from government, business, finance, sports, and other key sectors, will gather for ACTIF2024, which is being held under the theme, Owning Our Destiny: Economic Prosperity on the Platform of Global Africa.

With Africa’s sports industry expected to grow by 8% over the next 3-5 years to reach $12 billion by 2027, the high-level symposium is designed to showcase compelling market insights and investable projects in the sports business ecosystem, including infrastructure, franchising, e-gaming, new technologies, and tourism.

Confirmed speakers include The Honorable Samal Mojah Duggins, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Marine Resources; Small Business, Entrepreneurship, and Cooperatives; Sports and Creative Economy, St. Kitts and Nevis; Deniece Laurent-Mantey, Executive Director, President’s Advisory Council on African Diaspora Engagement in the United States; Clare Akamanzi, NBA Africa CEO; Simon Tiemtore, Founder, Chairman, and Chief Executive Officer, Lilium Capital; Dana Sims, Founder Producer, Daisy Blue Films; Kingsley Pugong, Founder and CEO, Rainbow Capital; and Stephen Lwazi Hodge, CEO, OTTera, Inc.
